Ray Stickle grew up in a suburb of Dayton, Ohio.  He graduated from The Ohio State University where he majored in history.  At the age of 22, he moved to Daejeon, South Korea, where he spent four years teaching, traveling, and writing. In 2006 he returned to Ohio and finished his master's degree.

He currently resides in Georgia with his wife and children.
